What better way to show off your favorite KoKaDi woven wrap than with a buckle carrier from PAXbaby! These wrap conversions come in two sizes, both with attached hoods and comfortably padded waistbands. Available for the perfect fit for your child, the Flip “baby” size is best worn with a wee one, 8-18 pounds approximately, The “toddler” size carrier is recommended to use with a baby older than around 10 months and then on up to a 24 months or older if your toddler is petite! One of the most interesting parts of the KoKaDi flip is the scrunchable body at the base of the carrier, thanks to the handy velcro at the waistband; this can be extremely helpful if your baby is tall but thin to keep them well seated in the carrier with their legs in the appropriate M position!

When asked what Kerry’s first wrap was that she converted, she said :

Can you just imagine Kerry’s sewing machine whizzzzing along as she listens to her favorite music?? Music inspires her and she says, “I mainly listen to the radio as I work but if that starts to bug me I listen to music on my iPad, though as you can imagine with my sewing machine working it gets  little noisy.”

As for her favorite colors, she is at home with any color of the rainbow!!!  “I like different colours at different times and for different situations.  Personally I like earthy tones, oh and Navy Blue ! At home I like to have rainbow accents and at my studio too, but I am equally happy with the peacefulness of white.”

Designed by a fellow native Californian, Marley was brought to life by Maya, a self proclaimed Bob Marley fan who gathered inspiration from a few places….  “I was just getting into skinny stripes as well as rainbows and wanted to see what I could do with tthem! Before it was Marley, it was a bunch of different “rasta rainbows” until I settled on what I thought was the perfect one!  I also used my (now ex) husband as inspiration. I wanted something that was unisex/daddy friendly but not a normal daddy carrier. When I think of daddy carriers, I think of dark solid colors, or stripes/color blocking, but not bright and fun.”   And so, Marley was born, giving a new rocking spin on babywearing!

My guess is that someone has pointed out to these business owners the ergonomic value of baby carriers like the BabyHawk or the Beco leading to the release of the Infantino’s own Mai Tei product, the Wrap ‘n Tie, and Bjorn’s “invention” of a Beco Gemini – esque carrier complete with a waistband, padded straps, & the quintessential Baby Bjorn front facing out capability.  Here is what Bjorn has to say about their new Comfort Carrier:

ERGONOMIC, PADDED SHOULDER STRAPS, DISTRIBUTE BABY’S WEIGHT, HANDS-FREE.  Baby Bjorn has obviously been doing their babywearing homework, and they have discovered what features are most important to us.  However, this large manufacturer has made 1 very large error!  They have priced this new ergonomic Bjorn at around $200 retail, and that is a BIG mistake!  $200 could be spent on a gorgeous wrap conversion, a custom Mai Tei, or a legacy half buckle SSC that will go down in babywearing history!  But $200 spent on a China-made, Beco/ Ergo wanna-be with a Baby Bjorn label and a BRUS store receipt?  I don’t think so, Baby Bjorn!

How can you fight back?

By promoting baby carriers that we know, trust, and deserve to carry your baby!

Wear your WAHM made baby carrier with pride!

Pass out business cards to your favorite mom-owned baby carrier shop!

Urge your mommy friends to register for a GREAT baby carrier instead of a mediocre one!

Let a new parent borrow your own baby carrier and give a quick tutorial so that they can have a GREAT experience with it!

Smile at Baby Bjorn wearing parents, and slyly say “Did you know there is a carrier even MORE comfortable than that one!?!”

And most importantly wear your baby with confidence: let the whole world know that you are a BABYWEARER!
