As September moved on through the month, my anxiety got worse and worse! My children hadn’t even started their first week of school, and some of our friends have been back for weeks already! How would we ever catch up? How would we be able to take any breaks? How could we fit it all in? The night before school started, I took a deep breath, and realized…. even if we had started in July, put in long days, and not taken any holidays, there is no way for any teacher to impart ALL the information that they would want to their students. It’s simply not feasible! So instead, I made a list of what I really really really want to focus on this year; maybe next year a different set of skills will seem most important!

This school year, my main goal is to maintain a loving atmosphere of peace and acceptance. A place where anyone can say anything, and the rest of the group will respect the opinions held, the words written, and the feelings expressed. This includes my own, as one of the guiding adults! It’s a whole new world this year in our classroom which was converted from our formal living area in our two story house; for the first ever, I am a contributing homeschool teacher, while PAXdaddy Aaron explores the realm of balancing a part time job with his homeschool teacher role as well. Dehesa Charter School hosts our homeschool education providing funding, support, and on Tuesdays, a slew of fun classes for the kids to attend. While we have been enrolled for 6 years now, Aaron hasn’t used his teaching credential and Masters in Education since 2004 when he last taught elementary school in Santa Barbara. When we encountered the opportunity for him to teach this year, we both agreed it would be a wonderful adventure and so, I juggled my full time work schedule to accommodate teaching a full 5 hours 5 days a week. No matter how hard we thought our juggle was previously, it was NOTHING compared to our new schedule!

first-day-school-hoemschool-september-2016

I’m so proud to say that even my own mom, PAXmommy Catherine, has joined our teaching team. The last time she taught in a classroom setting was my own homeschooling education, and it’s a fun last from the past for her to work with her grandkids on the most important years of their childhoods! I recruited her when I realized how hard this year was going to be for both Aaron and I, and she will be teaching a variety of topics including a read aloud book, nature study, and helping the children expand their creative writing skills 2 hours 3 days a week! It’s going to be an epic year for all of us!!!!

Charlotte Mason has provided the basis for our teaching methodology, but we dabble in Montessori and Waldorf learning with a high interest in Classical Conversations. Now that I’ve name dropped my 4 favorite and widely varied learning styles, you can google to explore which each one can contribute to a homeschool classroom of seven children ranging from an 8th grader down to pesky preschooler! Wheeeeew… no wonder I’m exhausted!!! PAXdaddy Aaron and I are being asked what curriculum we use, but we are dabbling with a few different companies including BOB books, Catholic Heritage, Meet the Masters, Thinkwell, Saxon, Cherrydale Press, and more! Charlotte Mason has a compelling argument for learning directly from “living books,” and since we are a literary family, this suits us all quite well.

It’s a strange situation for a long time, experienced teacher like Aaron to be sharing the classroom with such a novice as myself, but I am hoping that my brand new enthusiasm will mesh well with his logical knowledge and provide our family an exciting, fun, inspired year. Here’s to hoping that your children’s school experiences are also filled with the light shed from the lightbulbs lit and connections made each and every day!

Today is Day #2 at our annual PAXretreat with Joanna from Center for Babywearing Studies! Our training session is taking place in Wine Country Temecula, California this year, in a gorgeous house where none of us want to leave! Our PAXretreaters have learned how to teach new parents to use the ring sling as well as how to tie a slip knot with a shorty wrap, and have had some fascinating discussions on babywearing education, our industry, community, and medical issues that professional babywearers may come across in their field of work! Swag Bags filled with goodies that you can browse here at the PAXblog have ben distributed in what Joanna calls “Christmas in September,” and Sakura Bloom will be here at lunch today with the continuing education talk called “Balance: Your Best You.”
Two of the PAXmoms, Jillian & Celia, are currently certified through CBWS, and PAXtographer Allie will be completing her coursework this month as well! We feel so blessed to be able to serve our local babywearing groups with the high level of education that this training provides. If you are interested in becoming a certified babyweaing educator, please contact the Center for Babywearing Studies, and if you would like more information on receiving personal babywearing instruction from the PAXmoms, please email us at help@PAXbaby.com!

Our newest adventure in #readaloudrevival is Roald Dahl’s The BFG in which the Giants drink an amazing beverage called Frobscottle.  I challenged each of the kids to design their own magical elixir! The results were varied, but everyone stated that their concoction was “rare!” Some were tasty, some not, and three of them had the magical ability to fill you up for the whole day; wouldn’t that come in handy! My focus with the older kids this year is GRAMMAR, so they each wrote a paragraph about their imaginary beverage. This challenged a couple of them to think outside their usual “box,” and drew out the sillies from the others who love to get creative in their writing! I love watching their vocabulary improving daily as well as their use of interesting sentence structure!

To those who aren’t who they want to be.What they want to be. Where they want be. How they want to be.

To those who envisioned their life differently. In a different location perhaps. In a different state of mind. In a different physical body.

To all those who were wishing and hoping but your wishes and hopes didn’t come true or fell through or were forgotten while tending to others’ needs and wants.

To all those have been counting on being, having, feeling, doing something different in some way, in any way.

Standing over here, looking into your every day, I can’t see the full picture; I can’t explain why or what or how or when.

Standing over here, looking into your every day, I only see my own reflection, mirrored in the quiet sorrow in your eyes as you play sweetly with your children. My own reflection caught as still as a photograph, doing a mundane task, tears streaming down your face as you take a moment to grieve alone. My own reflection, a twin to your own emptiness, a twin to your own void, a twin to your own infinite pit of abject sorrow and intense anger. What have you lost? A lost world, a lost soul, a lost life, a lost year, a lost month, week, day, hour, minute…. LOST.

Today I sit poolside, sipping my lemon water, listening to the palm trees sway in the wind and in this quiet moment by myself I am allowed to imagine how this day would have should have could have been. A round belly protruding over my bikini bottom instead of post partum love handles. A blissful list of baby names rotating through my head.  A proud expression on my face as someone asks me how many children I have. “8!” I could have said while rubbing my tummy happily.  What a lovely moment spent thinking about my would have should have could have, and then… my children are here and fill the space with shouting, laughing, crying, splashing, eating, jumping, swimming, being, and my thoughts are turned again to focus on the here and now. The reality in front of me. Tangible, incredible, magical, these small beings who fill my every minute with themselves. How well they keep my mind occupied to have these thoughts often, and and how well they keep me too busy to stand and look into your every day, but believe me, I feel your sadness and recognize your hurt. Your life, like mine, will continue. Your world, like mine, will slowly begin to spin again. You will wonder how it is that you’re back in the swing of things, back in the saddle, and back on the road; you will wonder how it is that your life has been so changed and yet, that’s okay. It’s just DIFFERENT.

?#?PAXretreat2016? is hosting Joanna from Center for Babywearing Studies for a Foundations course here in sunny Southern California. September 15-19 2016 will be an amazing weekend full of babywearing, rainbows and new ideas cumulating in our Birthday Blessingway!!

How long is the training class? Our Foundations course provides 30 hours of training time over four days. The exact schedule will vary based on the individual needs of each class. Can I bring a child to class? Our Foundations course is 30 hours of intensive professional training. Feedback from past graduates has been that by the later days of class, children become overwhelmed and frustrated. While we do allow infants 6 months and under to attend with their caregiver, you must be able to perform each carry with a demonstration doll and your skills assessment must be performed with a demonstration doll. We encourage you to consider childcare, if possible, so that you and your fellow attendees can focus completely on the coursework. We are happy to allow a caregiver to bring your baby to nurse or have a bottle, and we will also have prescheduled breaks and lunch for time with your little one. Our goal is to make sure that you and your classmates get the absolute most from your time with us. What are the materials that are included in the cost? Included in the cost of each class are several items:
  1. A knot-learning shawl. This is not a baby carrier but instead a great tool for learning and teaching how to tie knots. You will likely use this frequently over the years.
  2. Your manual. This is a great reference tool and will hopefully be something you refer to as needed. Our bibliography has over 75 unique references, the majority of which are from the last 5 years, and can be a great asset to you if you want to research something directly.
  3. Professional quality teaching aids. This is new as of July 2013. Based on feedback from our graduates we are now including a set of teaching aids that you will be able to take home with you. This will save you the time of creating the visual aids yourself and the hassle of getting them professionally laminated. We want each of our consultants to be able to begin consulting straight away and believe this will eliminate one of the largest hurdles.
Do you ‘certify’ your consultants? As we wait for an industry-wide accepted certification, yes we do ‘certify’ those graduates of our program who complete the additional steps required. We have an outlined set of parameters that must be met in order to qualify for the ‘certification.’ After these conditions are met then the trainee is considered ‘Certified.’ What does your ‘certification’ entail? We feel there are a few components that are necessary to consider a consultant competent to be ‘certified.’ There are 6 steps that must be successfully completed.
  1. Completing all Pre-class homework.
  2. The “Consultation Concept” must be developed and finished by review time during the last day of class.
  3. You must show mastery of teaching technique for 15 carrying positions, plus knots during the “group skills assessment.”
  4. Successful completion of the final quiz at end of class.
  5. Obtaining liability Insurance coverage as described in your Handbook.
  6. Obtaining a valid AHA CPR card
Do you offer continuing education? Yes. We offer a range of ongoing education opportunities that we consider to be beneficial to developing and expanding your baby wearing consulting practice. We will add additional continuing education opportunities as we partner with the people and companies who we find have valuable resources that can assist our consultants. As always, as we develop these classes our graduates will have the opportunity to be involved in the “beta testing” for free or low cost. Plus they will have a voice in how the classes develop. Do you promote mentor-ship within your organization? Yes we do! We believe mentor-ship to be a hallmark tenet of laying the foundation for a new career or industry, such as babywearing consulting. Those who are paving the way in babywearing consulting have valuable experience and information. We are hopeful that they will share openly and honestly with those who are just entering the field. To that end we encourage mentor-ship and guidance within our organization and will help facilitate that as needed. Why do you teach a proper cradle carry? Yes our consultants will know how to do, and teach, a proper cradle carry. Experience has taught us that here in the USA there is a section of our population who believes that this is the best way to carry a baby. We tried to teach them to carry their babies differently and lost many of them in the process. Knowing how to do a proper cradle carry means that when confronted with the parent/grandparent/caregiver who insists that is the way they want to carry their child you will be able to assist them, talk about best practice and hopefully gain their trust in the meantime. We have also seen that, while rare, there are times when a tummy-to-tummy position is impossible for whatever reason. We want our consultants to be the best prepared for whatever they encounter and feel that this knowledge and experience helps them to be very well-rounded in their practice. Read more here : PAXbaby

Welcome to our #PAXretreat2016 event group! I love planning for this epic annual event, so I am tremendously excited to share the details we have set in stone so far! #PAXretreat2016 will be hosted from September 15-19 in wine country Temecula, California. I found an AMAZING house that will fit all of us comfortably and will provide ample opportunity for relaxing during retreat time. Arrival will be Thursday morning, when you will have a couple of hours to settle in and meet everyone. Thirty hours of class will be spread out over the FOUR days of PAXretreat with plenty of time to soak up the beautiful scenery by day and enjoy the social atmosphere at night. ALL food will be included in the cost of the retreat, with special attention given to guests with dietary restrictions. Childcare will NOT be included; however, this year we are offering the option, at additional cost, to bring a caregiver for your little one, so you can fully invest in your education. PAXretreat is a certification course and moves quickly; our goal is to provide a distraction-free learning environment so you can focus on Joanna’s teaching and not worry about your child’s needs. Nurslings under 6 months may attend class with you, but older babies would need to be attended to by an accompanying adult. The cost for an additional adult is $600 which covers all food, and $300 for a child over 2. There are many more details that need to be finalized, but I hope the overview provided so far gives you an idea of what to expect and how to plan!
Because of the beautiful array of rooms available at our PAXretreat house, the cost differs depending on which room you choose! These are first come, first serve so get your deposits on in! Each #PAretreat2016 ticket will cost between $2,250-$2,650+ based on your childcare situation as well as the room chosen. A deposit will be due by May 19, PAXmommy Jillian’s birthday, and the remainder will be due in July. Swag Bags, a swanky spa service, and some super fun PAXexclusive goodies designed just for #PAXretreat2016 are included in the cost of your retreat as well 1 free ticket to our BIRTHDAY BLESSINGWAY event held on Monday, September 19th, after our retreat has officially ended.** “Childcare will NOT be included; however, this year we are offering the option, at additional cost, to bring a caregiver for your little one, so you can fully invest in your education. PAXretreat is a certification course and moves quickly; our goal is to provide a distraction-free learning environment so you can focus on Joanna’s teaching and not worry about your child’s needs. Babies under 2 are therefore welcome if they are accompanied by an adult caregiver, and nurslings under 6 months may attend class with you. ”

Hold baby on your body where you want baby to be when you are finished wrapping

Pull top rail of the wrap over baby to their nape

Smooth wrap down over baby’s body

Tuck remainder of wrap under baby’s bottom creating a seat (knee to knee with baby’s knees higher than their bottom like an M)

Pull ends to tighten

Smooth wrap over each shoulder and leave gathered on your neck

Pull one end taut and either place between your knees or stand on the end

Pull the other end taut and pop your arm out and over the end so the wrap is now under your arm around your ribs

Pull snugly scross your torso and baby’s body

Pull the end under the taut vertical rail

Tuck this new layer under baby’s bottom as a second seat

Double back the end so that the “wrong side of the wrap is showing”

Tuck this new layer under baby’s bottom as a third seat

Bring end over baby’s body and leg (or under if you prefer) and to your back

Bring the taut vertical end leg (or under if you prefer) and to your back

Knot off behind your back with a double knot

Or if you have plenty of tail left, cross and bring back to your front to tie off under baby’s bum

Smooth the layers over baby’s body

Using your thumb pull the bottom rail of the wrap over your shoulder down and back up to cap your shoulder (or gather neatly if you prefer)

Check in a mirror that baby’s posture is a beautiful M and that baby’s airways are clear

ENJOY the comfort of the #PAXpoppins carry, a rebozo torso carrier with one shoulder and a Poppins finish!

Hearing Kristi from Wrapsody: The Wraparound Baby Carrier speak is going to be the highlight of my YEAR! This babywearing mompreneur is a founding mother to our growing industry and has more knowledge of our community in her pinky finger than most of us do added together! This lady put together the BCIA, the Baby Carrier Industry Alliance, which has saved babywearing from its demise MANY times! In addition to her work for the BCIA, her thriving wrap manufacturing business, Wrapsody… employs a family-owned company under fair trade conditions in Bali. What an amazing woman, right?

Kristi is a natural public speaker, and when I first asked her months ago about coming to be our guest speaker for our upcoming birthday party, she immediately said YES and sent me a list of interesting topics that would be fascinating to hear! We’ve chosen 2 sessions for our#PAXbirthdaybash8, one geared towards babywearing educators called Branding for Businesses which will delve into the topic of how to make YOUR brand stand out among the crowd, a trait that Kristi has mastered! Her second session is applicable for everyone who wants to improve ANY relationship whether that is parenting, business, teaching, or marriage! Personality for Peace will bring happiness to you personally and closure to some of the issues you have been facing in your day to day life. Experience these inspiring talks via recording; you will be able to watch Kristi teach over and over!

Fine print: PAXdaddy Dave from Yo Daddy will be editing and creating a video for you to enjoy! You will be emailed with the secret link in about 4ish weeks. Hold tight; it will be worth the wait!

paxbaby

It’s the moment you have been waiting for; let’s talk Tulas! In addition to all the other wonderful goodies and opportunities offered in our PAXbirthday Package, here is the chance to forego all the drama, all the anxiety, all the sadness of a regular PAXexclusive stocking, and to know that at the end of the day, YOU will HAVE a PAXexclusive Tula. Now at this point, we cannot reveal to you the pattern, print, name, or strap color that we have chosen for this special carrier, but we can assure you that it’s ADORABLE!!!! A stalk free dibs is priceless when compared to the epic adventure that is stalking for a PAXexclusive, so from now on you can just lean back, relax, and enjoy the show!

Fine print : When we receive our order of PAXexclusive Tulas (sometime before the end of the year,) we will notify you of a private stocking date and time where EVERYONE will go home with a special Tula and MORE! Please understand that these dibs are NON transferable, NON refundable, and only one PAXbirthday Package is available per PAXaccount/ household address. We won’t be able to change the shipping address manually, but if you need to edit your information, keep it updated!!! THIS ORDER IS A FINAL SALE!

Nymphai PAX is an amazing collaboration between Jessica at The Leaky Boob, Alisa at Tekhni, and PAXmommy Jillian from PAXbaby! Designed from Jessica’s tattoo, this amazing wrap became technicolored thanks to a little rainbow boost from our signature PAX rainbow warp at Tekhni! Nymphai PAX has been described as the “baby” of three beautiful WAHM businesses, and the end result is a stunning Repreve wrap that you will NEED to add to your collection!

Fine print : These wraps are slated to be delivered to PAXHQ sometime before November. 20 random PAXbirthday Present Package winners will be selected and notified of their stalk free dibs after October 1; thanks for your patience!

PAXretreat Swag Bags are famously sought after; these packages include goodies from a wide range of sources and may each differ slightly. Wraps from Ovolo Wraps, wooden teethers from Little Sapling Toys, beautiful babywearing jewelry from an array of different companies, baby carriers from Beco Baby Carrier and Ergobaby Carriers, gift certificates for custom baby shoes from Moxx, soothing salves from Mama’s Go to Salve, handmade unicorn horns from Brooklyn Owl….. As a virtual PAXbirthday attendee, you have the chance to take home a Swag Bag for your very own. This is an amazing opportunity to win SUPER big, stock your babywearing lending libary, have baby shower presents ready for years to come, or enjoy each and every goodie yourself! Please, let’s thank the WAHMs and companies that provided such sweet items for us to enjoy with a simple Facebook LIKE; here’s our PAXblog post with links to each business page <3

Fine print: Will you win??? Wait and see! A winner will be chosen at random at our BirthdayParty, & will be notified by email the night of September 20th, 2015!

paxbaby

With all these amazeballs flying around, I’m sure you have questions for the PAXmoms so please feel free to comment here at the PAXblog or send us an email to help@PAXbaby.com! Delta PAX Double Hammock Freshwater and Saltwater Finish Tutorial

11377073_1595819834009689_7855995481364011003_n

Middle marker at your chest. It won”t ever be this close to center again. Soak it in.

11429751_1595819854009687_4829165828930158134_n

Look down at your child holding your phone watching Super Simple Songs and question your parenting tactics. Bribery, screen time and crying just so you can create a tutorial. Let”s justify it by saying it makes people laugh. Totally okay, right?

 11391305_1595819850676354_8237625267237516432_n

While he’s distracted, quickly put the wrap over him with the middle marker at the back of his neck.

11400983_1595819880676351_73306462884931432_n

Nope, that”s wrong. I”ve done this a thousand times and still get it wrong. Place the middle marker at your chest, bring the wrap around your torso and find the spot where the wrap hits the middle of your back.

11350452_1595819897343016_6391009209273592987_n

THAT spot goes on the back of your child”s neck. Thank goodness for phones.

11406894_1595819900676349_7516382019670644994_n

And…Heave! Actually, Linus has lost weight since he started running everywhere. 24lbs. But it still feels like 40.

 11036328_1595819920676347_1741120915489429300_n

Start him up nice and high, cause he”ll lower himself drastically. His face says it all.

11407123_1595819964009676_5545520650694889956_n

No mama, I”m not even going to watch your phone, I hate this so much.

11392866_1595819937343012_4995040914863181862_n

Just kidding, i can”t resist.

11407123_1595819964009676_5545520650694889956_n-2

Just kidding again. It”s going on the floor. Thank goodness for Otterbox.

10426193_1595819997343006_4559649006394503442_n

Do what you can to create a deep seat. WHATEVER YOU CAN. Aaaaaaaand it will never be deep enough.

 11403182_1595820007343005_8225908858442423230_n

Bring the right pass over your right shoulder. Gather, pleat, accordion, whatever you’ve got in you to make it happen!

11391510_1595820017343004_5748247665715672793_n-2

Place that right pass between your feeble thighs that really don”t hold anything. Smile because you can just imagine the joy on your child’s face as this is happening.

11391389_1595820050676334_6643336923536916580_n

Now bend down and pick up the phone. No not that show mama. That one. No, that one. Noooooooo thaaaaaat oooooooone!

11412179_1595820064009666_5904857237373590165_n

Use your right hand to reach behind and support him. Rather, to keep him from purposefully popping his seat.

11401139_1595820084009664_6303730295846491429_n

With your right pass held between your knees, grab the left pass from behind you and bring it around your torso to the front to begin making your chest pass. Gather it tightly into your right hand. So sad, Linus!! It’s almost over, buddy. Just kidding, we are so far from over.

11401124_1595820127342993_902184391071617891_n

Bring that chest pass BEHIND the right pass that you are holding between your knees.

11391320_1595820137342992_7834768986191273853_n

Bring that chest pass around to your back. Because I’m such a mediocre wrapper, I always hold onto the top rail and let the rest go, which then loosens all of the tension in my chest pass. Don’t do as I do. Learn from my mistakes.

11407163_1595820154009657_4920989481471742476_n

Bring that pass around to your back. Reach behind you with your left hand to grab the top rail. Hyperextend your wrists to take that wrap far enough behind you and behind your baby’s bum to get it up and over HIS ENTIRE BODY.

11350561_1595820170676322_5496716321891800300_n

You can also do the towel dry move where you bring it from side to side up your baby’s back, all the way to his neck. Bend your elbows to pop it over his back.

11428731_1595820187342987_7915603507448379774_n

That pass will now come up and over your left shoulder. Attempt to make a second seat, by tucking in the bottom rail under his bum.

11401527_1595820210676318_1707498825878485248_n

Finally. We are half way done. This is like the longest Lord of the Rings journey ever. Grab both rails coming over each shoulder.

11377267_1595820250676314_5947522105223523102_n

This is what we call an “L” pull. Except don’t copy me, because I’m doing a backwards “L”. OF COURSE. I’m thinking about what an L would look like facing forwards. Think about an L if  I were facing you. Your right arm should pull up and your left arm should pull horizontal to the left. This will help tighten your horrendously loose chest pass.

11406765_1595820287342977_2799455970840017695_n

OMG even after my photographer told me to do it again, I still did it backwards. I don’t do well in dance classes with a mirror either. I get my rights and lefts mixed up. I’m 30 years old.

11109273_1595820310676308_1133528997607046474_n

Put the pass coming over your left shoulder between your thighs. Filled with glorious food. Take the pass coming over your right shoulder and feed it behind and down through your chest pass.

11391511_1595820324009640_834072275328724690_n

He gets his resting rude face and death stare from me.

11401139_1595820344009638_6051609507655255422_n

Now you have the left pass in front and the right pass behind your chest pass.

 11391199_1595820360676303_1301962224213170287_n

Now take your left pass and cross it behind your right pass.

11391174_1595820414009631_9117931010212321055_n

Lol. Linus is still not happy at all. Now that you have crossed your passes, take them both behind your back OVER your baby’s legs.

11391205_1595820427342963_4875779908339032310_n

Now, tie under your baby’s bum, which is virtually impossible. If you have a longer wrap, cross the passes and bring them around to the from going under your baby’s legs and tie in front.

11238216_1595820470676292_3332074106804627548_n

As you tie the knot, jump up and pull the tails out to the side. Jumping and bouncing your toddler up in the air will lift his weight and you can pull the knot tighter. Obviously, do this safely and only with an older toddler.

11230589_1595820500676289_8153757834547226593_n

Always double knot for safety!

11401469_1595820607342945_17168830164584317_n

Back view! Your stripes will never be vertical. Just accept that.

11062166_1595820577342948_507538459930236091_n

Voila! Your Double Hammock with a Freshwater Finish is complete!

11401545_1595820617342944_6525532517941629483_n

Untie the knot under your baby’s bum and uncross the passes in front.

11427727_1595820630676276_9027480933169333078_n

Place the pass coming over your right shoulder in between your knees.

11403182_1595820640676275_7146357932857524921_n

Take your right hand behind your right pass and grab the pass coming over your left shoulder.

11406906_1595820674009605_5782327553778608947_n

Pull that pass behind and all the way through over your chest pass and let it fall to the ground.

11351481_1595820704009602_2468018947637006697_n

Now, take that pass (that came over your left shoulder, behind the right pass, over the chest pass) and cross it behind the right pass. It will go to your right hand.

11393072_1595820724009600_7701108306837487158_n

Take both passes and bring them around to your back, making sure to go over your baby’s legs.

10406843_1595820727342933_1358512608354230752_n

Tie your knot under bum (or bring it around to tie in front if you have a longer wrap). Do the bounce n’ pull!

11390463_1595820777342928_4474845035352035711_n

Double knot for safety!

11427736_1595820784009594_2178111168786203908_n

Darn those stripes! Always showing the world how subpar my wrap jobs are. Meh, that’s alright. Perfection is overrated.

11401483_1595820830676256_6538909966030365875_n

And that’s it! Don’t do what I did and twist your right pass to show the wrong side of your wrap. Keep them untwisted. I was just showing you what not to do. WINK.

11390033_1595820854009587_2594001560072202942_n

Doesn’t a Saltwater Finish look awesome and super complicated?! But it’s not so bad, is it? You did it! Congratulations! And, if you didn’t, then you are like me and it took you 3.492 times to get it right.

11393200_1595820850676254_6029449762825884833_n

This wrap is just so happy! And that little chubby toddler hand!! Squeeeee!

11247890_1595820894009583_2531444326092486258_n

Bye, bye Shana. Now get out of my house and get me out of here, mama!

Sighhhhhhhhhhh.

Carry your baby, not your car seat.

Like it, share it, spread the word!

We are not fueling the parent wars; merely shedding light on a common practice.

It’s *never* safe to put a car seat on top of a cart, whether or not it clicks in. The clicking can actually damage your seat, as it wasn’t meant to attach to anything ot
her than its own base, and cause it to fail in an accident. This is specifically detailed in the car seat manuals. Additionally, the seat makes the cart incredibly top heavy and many babies have been injured or killed when carts have tipped over with their seats on top.

If you cannot babywear, try putting the bucket seat directly into the basket of the cart.

It is hard to believe that #PAXreatreat San Clemente is over already!

We had an absolutely AMAZING time laughing and learning with so many  wonderful mamas and babies, listening to presentations from Laura Brown of Ergo Baby, CharLee from Quasico Creative, Cassiopeia of Tula Baby Carriers, a skype lunch conference with Keren of Je Porte Mon Bebe, and to top it all off – certification by the Canadian Babywearing School!!!

Guests received babywearing portraits by Salt + Light Photography, packed goodie bags, hours of instruction, gourmet meals and snacks prepared right on site and tons of life long memories!!!

What could be better than a gigantic week-long sleepover with some of your favorite babywearing friends and all of the PAXmommies!?!?
