I’m a huge bookworm, but I don’t have much time for pleasure reading. What I do make sure to have time for is to read aloud to my littles.  A favorite activity in my house is to all snuggle in my bed – queen size! – and listen to mama read aloud. Picture books, chapter books, bring on the books, we read them all! Because of this family habit, it is my belief that my children will grow up to love books as much as I do, and that makes me very happy.As the new school year approaches, we’ve been discussing the addition of a few new To Do’s for the older kids to keeep life spinning smoothly during our school day. One of Lucy’s new chores will be the wonderful task of setting up our mantle in a delightful library style; I chose a few topics for September and compiled a book list for each one. The books we don’t have will be fetched from the library, or ordered from amazon thanks to school funding! I’ve also asked her to augment the arrangement with props and decorations!

As hard as I ignored the facts, as far as I stuck my head in the sand, as loudly as I sang to drown out the truth, I couldn’t stop the inevitable from happening… #babycate turned TWENTY MONTHS this week. But as I look at her and see the amazing child she is becoming, the spirited toddler she is, and the cuddly baby she still is, I am filled with overwhelming gratitude for these past twenty months getting to know my Cate! Every day seems like a gift when life is viewed through her eyes; every funny bug and beautiful flower is worth a stop and a conversation when you live like Cate. She forces me with to slow down, calm down, and pay attention to what’s really important! View the world through your child’s eyes and see how wondrous the world can be!!!

Our very own PAXmommy Brianna, PAXbaby.com’s manager, delivered her baby boy yesterday, June 29th at 8:24pm last night in a beautiful home birth, surrounded with the love of family and friends.
Her wonderful new addition is 22″ long and weighs 8#1 oz, making him their smallest baby so far.
We could not be happier for her and her little family!!!

My seventh baby, #babycate, is 12 days old  today.  I promised myself while she was still baking in my belly that I would not mourn her milestones as I did with her big brother, Baby #6.  I would fight against the quicksand trap of being sad at each growth spurt and accomplishment.  Instead, I would revel in her developments and rejoice that each day she would be that much stronger!!!

Why do we have babies unless we want them to survive babyhood and become feisty toddlers, then cuddly preschoolers, curious children, and ambitious young people!  This focus on “losing” our babies once they start maturing is a heartbreaking and counter productive mentality.  Instead, join me in my mantra for this baby and all of your babies as well : “I can’t wait to see who YOU become!”  This is a healthy view of our children that will lead to less sadness as they grow, and more joy in the fact that they HAVE grown!  Let us pack away their infant clothes with happy tears, and let us mark their height on the wall with joyful smiles that our babies have had yet another growth spurt!  For as much as I adore the newborn phase and want to bottle Cate’s sweet breath to save for later, she WILL grow up, and I WILL not fall into the trap of bereaving my very much alive child.

Happy 31 weeks with Baby #7.

Doesn’t it feel like we were *just* announcing PAXmommy Jillian’s pregnancy?

And now we have only nine weeks left, give or take.
Amazing isn’t it??

I wonder when Baby #7 will make her appearance.
Early?
Late?

Right on time?
